First the odds: Based on 21 years experience in New York Harbor, the odds of your trip being rained out are less than one in 15. How long would the lines be on the Lottery if those odds were offered?

For private charters, Ventura offers clients an exceptionally flexible policy in case of rain: Your choice!

Ventura is capable of sailing rain or shine, and offers sheltered cabin space for all guests. So for the adventurous, dedicated sailors, off we go, rain or shine.

But that may not be suitable for all...

In the event of rain, all Ventura clients may postpone their sail and reschedule on the day of the sail. This is a valuable tool for busy event planners, particularly those who have chosen our various sail-and-dine packages. One conversation in the morning and all is put on hold -- including the catering.

Weather is obviously such an important factor in your planning, as well as in Atlantic Sail's operations. Consequently we are constantly monitoring conditions. And because we customize all our sails around the best needs of the client, we are in touch several times via email or phone in the days before your trip. Hence, you will have among our services some up-to-the-minute weather forecasts and the benefit of over 21 years of chartering experience! And P.S. In case it starts to rain during a sail, we have emergency rain gear for all hands! (You can even wear the rain gear home.)

Some important details: Clients wishing to reschedule due to rain must inform Atlantic Sail & Charter no later than 10:30 am on the day of an evening sail -- starting after 5:00 pm. A reschedule fee of $250.00 applies and covers all food and beverage cancellations as well. For day sails, beginning at noon, the call to reschedule must be made by 9:30 am, preferably the day before. The same reschedule fee applies.

The captain reserves the right to cancel any charter if he/she feels weather conditions represent a danger to the safety of the passengers. In such case, no reschedule fee will charged.

FRIDAY SUNSET, PUBLIC SAILING TRIPS WEATHER POLICY

In case of rain being forecast on, say, a Friday night sunset sail, the Captain will make the decision to sail or not. As a rule, we do not sail in the rain and recognize that this is for fun, not challenge. If a sail is canceled, the ticket vendor, Smarttix, will be notified by Atlantic Sail Charter, who will in turn notify ticket holders.  If cancelled, a recorded message is also put on Ventura's main number: 212 786 1204 no later than 4:30 on the day of the sail. Ticket holders may transfer their tickets to another sail if the boat sails and the passenger chooses not to go, for a small reschedule fee.  If the Captain cancels, you get a full refund.  So it is your choice!  One condition for your reschedule:  be sure to notify smarttix BEFORE the sail if you choose not to sail that night.   What's more fair than that?
