Classic, traditional yacht setting for film or product . Varnished wood, brass, & sails

Ventura's timeless beauty of wood, sails, and original hardware provide a variety of authentic background details for product photography, movies or live broadcasting.  Print media photographers include high fashion work for Harper's Bazaar by Patrick Demarchelier, a live early morning broadcast by ABC's "Good Morning America," and product shoots for Nautica, Brooks Brothers, Macy's and many others.

Ventura's assets include a small fleet of traditional, and 100% authentic -- no replicas here! -- support vessels.  They can be used in combination with Ventura or rented separately for background props, or the main event.

Contact Captain Patrick Harris for details, pricing and making it happen.  Here's a summary:

"Breeze" is a 1920s, beautifully varnished yacht tender, supplied during the Gatsby-era to owners of large vessels.  8' long, lightweight, can sit in display windows or used in-water.  Currently Breeze is afloat in a NJ Powerball drawing.  Watch on YouTube.

"Honey Girl" is a 1950s, classic mahogany, 19 footer.  Fully functional for showroom use or in-water shoots.  Available in the Hamptons area, Fire Island and Manhattan.  Check her out in "Friends with Benefits" starring Woody Harrelson, on display at Brookfield Place as a mall attraction. (The Woodster also enjoyed a private charter with friends and colleagues on Ventura.)

"Whisper," was designed in the 1940s and is one of the very few remaining true trans-Atlantic, all-wood racing sailboats remaining on the East Coast.  Built of old growth teak and mahogany, she boasts her original appointments dating from the 1940s and 1950s -- a photographers delight.  Available in East Hampton/Montauk and south shore of Long Island/Fire Island area.  Her name is oh so appropriate: under full sail in light breezes, she truly whispers through the water.  36' long and for classic boat yard scenes can be photographed out of the water, a la old man and kid moments.

Location scouts appreciate the wealth of background details, such as Ventura’s solid bronze winches from the late 1800s, gleaming varnished wooden spars,  stainless steel cables, her classic 8-spoke steering wheel and brass compass.  All elements that captivate the eye an enhance the imagery of a product.

Operationally, behind the scenes, shoots are aided by the yacht’s on-board facilities. Even while sailing, Ventura provides silent 110 vac power for charging batteries or running steamers for clothing.  A private cabin area is not just a great set (with a brass and store fireplace!) but also doubles as a sheltered space for hair and make up.  A large table in the main cabin provides a work space for laptops enabling easy viewing of screens and your gear.

Rates are flexible and are built around your shooting needs.  The yacht is available 24/7 in Manhattan May through October.  Dockside shoots, at the glamorous North Cove marina (see Ventura shot dockside for the film Hitch) are available on a half-day or full day rate.  Underway, under motor power or sail power, the great sights of New York Harbor are facilitated by Ventura's wide wooden decks.
